Everyone at LOS would like to wish Simon the best of luck as he leaves us for a month to volunteer in the Philippine’s. Simon will be working with All Hands and Heart to carry out some vital restoration works within the community. LOS are sponsoring him to do this, and we couldn’t be prouder.
Philippines Typhoon Relief
Typhoon Rai hit the central-southern region of the Philippines in December 2021, causing severe rainfall, flooding, and mudslides. The Typhoon rapidly intensified over a 24-hour period with storm winds of up to 195 KM/hr. This super typhoon affected 9.9 million people, killing over 400 and leaving 2.4 million in need of assistance. The regions infrastructure, schools, community structures, homes and farms were left with significant damage. Southern Leyte was on of the worst-affected provinces, out of the 528 schools in the region, 312 were impacted with over 500 classrooms destroyed and nearly 1,700 majorly damaged.
